Leaders from the Metro South Community Improvement District and local business associations presented a plaque recognizing Larry Johnson's leadership at the Cedar Grove Bridge ceremony. Wayne Smith, vice president of Metro South CID, said the plaque honored Johnson's "22 years of unwavering commitment, untiring devotion, visionary leadership, and outstanding service," and noted the presentation date on the plaque as 08/06/2026.
Larry Kaiser of Metro South CID praised county staff and public works for acting on rerouting and road fixes after the bridge was closed. Johnson, who was introduced as a former DeKalb County commissioner and newly elected to the state senate, accepted the recognition and pledged continued work to bring investment to DeKalb and nearby counties.
