Deputy Superintendent Jeanne Grazioli introduced Director of Literacy, Curriculum & Assessment Megan Young and Teacher on Special Assignment/Math Specialist Andrea Kapphahn, who described the materials selection process and recommended resources for the district.
Board directors asked detailed questions about the number of teachers engaged in the selection process, the "Plus One" procedure for adoption, whether materials would be hardcover or digital, distinct high school pathways, training and piloting timelines, and using experienced teachers to coach new staff. Grazioli and staff said they would incorporate feedback and continue public previews and piloting prior to a final recommendation.
The materials review will be carried forward as a formal recommendation; staff will provide further details and timelines at subsequent meetings and during the public preview period.
