Englewood leaders preview August study sessions, consent items and staffing plans

Mayor Pro Tem Tim Joe Anderson convened the Englewood City mayor-manager meeting on Aug. 5, 2026, with City Manager Sean Lewis providing a run-through of upcoming study sessions and regular agendas. Lewis told the group the Aug. 10 study session will cover the draft proposed 2027 budget, a South Platte Renew governance discussion and an AmeriCorps fellowship update, and will seek council feedback on the city's strategic plan.

Lewis also walked through items slated for the Aug. 17 regular meeting, including an authorization to defend and indemnify claims related to an Englewood police officer and a maintenance agreement for the sale of Englewood Housing Authority duplexes. When asked whether those should be placed on the consent agenda, Mayor Pro Tem Tim Joe Anderson and staff indicated assent to include the indemnity authorization and the housing authority maintenance agreement on the consent agenda.

Not all items moved forward. A GH Phillips contract for Almond Water Treatment Plant Phase 2 space improvements was discussed but staff lacked an available dollar amount and indicated the item may not yet have cleared the Water and Sewer review. Mayor Pro Tem Anderson asked that the item be held for a future meeting rather than placed on consent.

The meeting also previewed an Aug. 24 executive session for legal and personnel matters — including the city attorney annual review and the city manager recruitment — along with placeholders for an affordable housing action plan and comprehensive plan update. Council and staff closed the session with several council service requests to be routed to operations, including sidewalk repairs, utility-locate cleanup and bulb-out safety concerns reported by a resident.
