Shakopee designates superintendent as MDE access authority and staff as security manager

The Shakopee board adopted a resolution designating Superintendent Mike Redmond as the Identified Official with Authority (IOwA) for the Minnesota Department of Education’s External User Access Recertification System.
The IOwA role is required by the Minnesota IT Enterprise Identity and Access Management standard and directs the district to review and recertify user access to state education systems at least annually. The motion to authorize the Superintendent as IOwA was presented by Kristi Peterson, seconded by Alison Johnson, and recorded with a roll call noting all present in favor.
The board also designated the Superintendent’s designee, Alison Johnson (Learning, Teaching & Equity Department Finance & Grant Specialist), as the district’s Education Identity and Access Management (EDIAM) security manager. The EDIAM manager will oversee user accounts and authorizations for the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB), and the P20W systems (SLEDS and ECLDS). These assignments are administrative steps to comply with state access control requirements.
