Shakopee board elects officers for 2025, sets member pay at $4,500

At the Jan. 6, 2025 organizational meeting, the Shakopee Public Schools Board elected its officers for 2025 and approved the board’s compensation package for the year.
Jeff Smith was elected chair by acclimation after a nomination from Kristi Peterson and a second from Brophy. Kristi Peterson was elected vice chair by acclimation following a nomination from Chair Smith and a second from Joe Aldrich. Joe Aldrich was elected treasurer and Caroline Valdez was elected clerk, both by acclimation. The motions to elect each officer were recorded as made and seconded in the minutes and carried.
The board also approved annual compensation of $4,500 per board member, with an additional $500 stipend for officers. The motion to approve the compensation levels was made by Joe Aldrich and seconded by Caroline Valdez and recorded in the meeting minutes as adopted.
The organizational meeting record notes there was no public comment during the organizational items and that procedural votes on officers were completed by acclimation.
