During the March 10 meeting the Port Orford-Langlois School Board held first readings of multiple policies, including nondiscrimination, sexual harassment, family and medical leave, instructional materials, artificial intelligence, admission of resident students, pregnant and parenting students, and administration of medications.
Board member Bob Brown asked why the word "immediately" had been redacted from the sexual-harassment policy's reporting timeline, asserting that it is "imperative to expedite justice in a timely manner" (as summarized in the minutes). Other board members raised reasons why victims might not report immediately—citing sensitivity, time to process trauma, or denial—and the board agreed to collect questions and return for a second reading in the next meeting. Stephanie Griffith was assigned to provide answers and include the policies again for the board's second reading before adoption.
No policy adoptions occurred at the March meeting; the policies remain at first-reading status and will return for further review.
