At the Feb. 24 meeting Donna Johannesmeyer, the district Title I teacher, gave a PowerPoint presentation on the district's Reading Program and described classroom practice, interventions and tracking of student progress.
Johannesmeyer told the board that "The reading program was developed by the University of Oregon, and aligns with all 2CJ curriculum." She said time is dedicated each day in each grade for foundational skills and that the program offers both intervention and extension, with results tracked daily.
Board members heard the presentation during the Educational Spotlight portion of the agenda; minutes note strong results from the program but do not include specific diagnostic percentages. Superintendent Aaron Miller and Principal Shane Brown were present for the presentation; no public input was recorded on the program.
