The Port Orford-Langlois School Board heard an update March 10 from Superintendent Aaron Miller on preliminary plans for the acreage across from Pacific High School. Miller said the district met with the Curry County Board of Commissioners in Port Orford to discuss options for the site, which could include workforce housing on four acres and a grant-funded cranberry bog to support the high school horticulture program.
Miller said additional site preparation—leveling and stump clearing—is needed to make the projects shovel-ready and that there may be a need to incorporate a new septic system into housing plans. He told the board he will provide monthly updates on the district strategic plan and on next year’s math metrics. The update also noted that recent community events drew participation: "The recent Bingo night had about 75 participants," the board packet states.
Board members did not take formal action on the acreage during the meeting; Miller framed the briefing as early-stage planning and outreach with county officials. The projects remain contingent on further site work, grant approvals for the cranberry bog, and any approvals required for housing infrastructure.
