North Wasco approves supplemental federal-grants budget to appropriate $26,000 holdover

The CFO also said the district received about $9.2 million across three phases of COVID-related relief and is working to “right-size” the regular budget to match estimated enrollment (about 2,820 students). The board moved to adopt the resolution (motion by Director Joel Vaught, seconded by Director John Nelson); the motion passed unanimously.
The CFO outlined next steps for fiscal controls: transferring appropriations where needed to avoid over-expenditure, reviewing outstanding purchase orders and encumbrances, and initiating the annual audit. Auditors will perform fieldwork next week with a final report expected in December. The board was also told that some contractual adjustments tied to these funds are underway, including previously negotiated investments by Sodexo tied to a contract extension.
The board’s action was limited to adopting the supplemental appropriations; no additional policy changes were made. The resolution authorizes staff to make the necessary transfers so the district can obligate the identified funds before they expire.
