Board of Elections seeks poll-book extension, previews poll-worker training

Board of Elections official McCormick told the committee the office had approximately $700 remaining on a poll-book grant and asked permission to apply invoices to that balance. The committee moved, seconded and approved the extension. McCormick said the office is considering payment options for its voter-registration vendor, N-Tier, including a possible three-year prepayment to realize a financial advantage, and said he would confer with the treasurer and county administrator before a final decision.
McCormick also announced a poll-worker training session scheduled for Sept. 12 at the Genesee Valley School cafeteria and said the county needs about 160 poll workers for an upcoming election; he reported about 130 workers had signed up so far. The committee discussed budget impacts and approved the requested grant-extension administrative action.
