Tipton board reviews well maintenance, ballfield hookup, filter repairs and a gas-station variance

Jim updated the board on several operational items. He said Peerless Midwest completed annual maintenance and testing of Tipton—ity istribution wells and that pumps are running within about 5% of expected capacity, so the $50,000 revamp planned for some years is not required this year. "They did their annual permanent maintenance testing, and I'm pleased to report that everything checked out nicely," he said.
Jim also reported ballfield dugouts are going up and crews installed around 500 feet of waterline last week; pressure and bacteriological (Bacti) testing are ongoing and the site should be hooked up soon. He said the city is awaiting paperwork on a variance from a former Swifty property owner to allow a new Speedway convenience store to connect; city attorney Matt Twigley drafted the variance language. Finally, Jim said the board met with a company called Vasten Loading to review West plant filter-bottom repairs and is awaiting budgetary and timeline information, which could be a six-figure project in 2027.
