The Chanute Board of Education reorganized at its July 1 meeting, electing Cassie Cleaver as board president and Bri Leroy as vice president.
Derek Waggoner nominated Cassie Cleaver for president and Heather Guernsey nominated Bri Leroy for vice president; both nominees accepted and the selections were approved by the board. The board also confirmed several administrative appointments: Tamara Slane as Board Clerk, Taylor Hogue as Deputy Board Clerk and Kelly Colter as District Treasurer. Heather Guernsey volunteered to continue as the district's delegate to the ANW Special Education Cooperative and as the Governmental Relations Network Representative for the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB); Jennifer Zywietz volunteered to continue as alternate delegate.
Board members voted on the slate of appointments as part of the meeting's reorganization items. The motions were recorded as carried by roll-call votes of five in favor and two absences. These appointments set the district's officer roles and official contacts for the 2026–2027 school year.
