The Milton-Freewater Unified School District 7 board approved a supplemental budget adjustment to capture unexpected grant revenue and shift resources into capital projects.
The district administrator (S1) told the board it had “brought in a couple of grants that we weren't expecting” and recommended opening the dollars now so the funds could be spent. She also said moving up an asphalt project to before July 1 would let the district "get last year's pricing on the oil," saving about $30,000. The board moved into and closed a public budget hearing before approving the supplemental changes via motion and voice vote.
The supplemental actions included formal appropriation increases later recorded by the board: a $400,000 increase to the general fund, a $450,000 increase to special revenue, and a $400,000 increase to the capital projects fund; those motions were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote. The district will post the finalized budget materials after the hearing.
