After residents' testimony, commissioners approve stop signs in Indiana South

Residents at a Nov. 22 public hearing told the Lubbock County Commissioners Court that several crashes and injuries have occurred at intersections in the Indiana South subdivision and asked the court to install stop signs.
Buddy Beach, a nearby resident, said the intersection by his house has been the site of several "pretty pretty bad" wrecks and recounted a prior crash involving his wife. Robert Grimes showed a recent video and said, "This young lady was hurt. She was pregnant," describing paramedics' response after a collision. After hearing residents and a short staff discussion of traffic-count thresholds and reporting challenges, the court moved to approve installation of traffic-control devices at specified intersections and directed public works to get them installed.
Commissioners and staff discussed standard traffic-count thresholds for sign installation (speaker noted a 2,000 cars-per-day threshold used for traffic studies) and agreed to consider crash history alongside counts when warranted. The court's action followed public comment and was recorded as approved by majority vote on the record; the order directs county public works to implement the installations.
