SFEA president says licensed staff are stretched as contract bargaining approaches

Emily Rao, president of the Silver Falls Education Association, told the board Feb. 9 that the association has reached the midpoint of the school year and summarized recent professional development activities.
Rao said K–5 staff had curriculum-focused professional development, secondary staff led trainings on areas of expertise, and the day concluded with staff returning to their buildings to work. She said the association has formed a calendar committee and that licensed staff "cannot keep up at the level they are currently working at." Rao also named the bargaining team set to negotiate the next contract: Jon Howard, Jennifer Rios, Matt Craig, Erin Scott, Danielle Paine and Emily Rao.
