Superintendent Kim Kellison briefed the Silver Falls School District 4J board at its Jan. 26 work session on the districtlong range facility planning (LRFP) process and next steps. Kellison said BRIC Architects will perform facility assessments across district buildings and an educational assessment focused on equity; those studies are required preparatory work if the district later chooses to pursue a bond.
Kellison said there will be four open houses for families to engage with the LRFP process and that the LRFP teamwill meet next on Feb. 18. She told the board that completing the BRIC assessments and the LRFP process would make the district eligible to apply for the OSCIM grant, which she described as a $10 million grant from the State of Oregon tied to bond-readiness. Board members discussed timing and community engagement but made no formal decision at the session.
The update frames the districtchoices about capital needs and potential bonding; the LRFP and BRIC assessments are intended to document facility condition, equity in instructional spaces, and community priorities before any formal bond proposal is drafted. The board will receive additional LRFP-team updates in coming weeks and decide whether to advance a bond proposal after further study and public outreach.
