Parents appeal denied kindergarten transfer, say continuity is critical

“We are not asking for preference, but for continuity in a placement where you've already demonstrated success,” Casey Admire told the board, stressing that moving the child at kindergarten transition carries real risk of regression. Board members asked clarifying questions about whether the family had moved out of district during the year; the parents said they had relocated for housing reasons and were not aware of the transfer policy when they moved.
After discussion of district policy and the board’s decision to table the broader policy question, trustees said staff would review the family’s materials alongside the policy options to be presented at the June 16 work session.
