Vice President Courtney Anderson called the Spring Branch Independent School District's special Board-related School Finance Advocacy Team (SFAT) meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. and "certified that the provisions of the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Section 551.041, had been complied with" in the public notice for the meeting. The session included opening remarks from SFAT Co-Chairs Jen Espey, Brian Muecke and Kristi Thibaut and a review of meeting handouts and the agenda.
SFAT members and co-chairs discussed priorities to carry into the upcoming legislative session. Georgia Polley shared committee perspectives on strategy, and member Minda Caesar relayed feedback from a recent SBISD Council of PTAs community meeting with Representative Mano De Ayala. Committee members used table-level reflections to identify community concerns and potential advocacy messages to pursue before the legislature convenes. The committee scheduled a follow-up SFAT meeting for Nov. 20, 2024, to refine messaging and next steps.
