Superintendent Dr. Mundorf presented a proposal to name the Kearney High School track for longtime KHS track coach Roger Mathiesen, noting Board Policy 7300 requires a naming-rights agreement developed in consultation with legal counsel and the named individual. Board members discussed the proposal and expressed support for moving forward.
John Icenogle moved and Amy Barth seconded a motion to approve the track name "Mathiesen Track" and authorize the superintendent to develop a naming-rights agreement in conjunction with Coach Mathiesen for future board approval. The motion passed unanimously, 6–0.
