Board reminded of required ESD/OSBA board training sessions and timing

Board members were informed about hybrid ESD training sessions approved via OSBA (April 30 in La Grande and May 1 at the ESD) and reminded that each board member must complete training once in their four-year term.
Staff informed the board about upcoming ESD-sponsored board trainings, which are approved through the Oregon School Boards Association (OSBA). The sessions are hybrid (in-person or via Zoom); one is scheduled in La Grande on April 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and another at the ESD on May 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A longer state-sponsored session (three hours) was mentioned with the date to be provided.
Beth reminded members that board training is required once during each four-year term and that board members new to a term beginning after June 30 must complete training during their upcoming four-year term. "You have to have the training once in your 4 year term," she said. Staff offered to circulate flyers and Zoom links for members who prefer to attend remotely.
