Stanfield board to pilot new truancy citations as court option opens

In response to questions about excused absences, Beth explained that doctor notes and prearranged absences are accepted and that "the ORS says that the principal is the one that determines whether it's excused or not." She listed acceptable reasons—ill family member, family emergency, death in the family—and noted that vacations and hunting are not counted as excused.
The board did not take formal action on the truancy matter during the meeting; Beth said she will attend court next week to observe how the new process unfolds.
