Stephenville ISD board holds called workshop, enters closed session and reconvenes with no action

The Stephenville Independent School District Board of Education met for a called workshop on Aug. 11, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the administration building’s large meeting room. President Dr. Robert Barberee announced the board would adjourn into closed session at approximately 6:32 p.m. under provisions of the Texas Government Code cited in the meeting notice, including Sections 551.071 and 551.086, to discuss personnel matters, potential real property transactions and security implementation.

Board members listed as present included Dr. Robert Barberee (president), Donny Hill (vice president), Matt Miller (secretary), Dr. Rita Cook, Chad Elms, Ben McCleery and Douglas Young. Superintendent Dr. Eric Cederstrom was listed as school personnel present. The meeting record notes Mr. Ben McCleery provided the invocation and Dr. Rita Cook led the U.S. and Texas pledges. The board reconvened to open session at about 8:31 p.m., and the minutes state that no action resulted from the closed session. With no further business appearing, the meeting was adjourned.

The agenda and posted notice enumerated specific closed-session purposes: discussion of personnel matters and complaints (Section 551.074), deliberation about appointments, employment, evaluations, reassignments or discipline, discussion of the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property (Section 551.072), and discussion of security personnel or devices (Section 551.076). The minutes do not record any motions, votes or formal decisions taken in open session related to those items; they explicitly state "No action resulted from Closed Session."
