Superintendent previews school year, new communications platform and evidences district financial strength

Superintendent Cotto updated the board on fall planning and district initiatives ahead of the Sept. 8 school opening.
Cotto told trustees more than 200 students and families attended a recent "Back to Health" fair and announced two additional back‑to‑school clinics on Aug. 18 and Aug. 20 at 107 Knapp Terrace, Suite 100, with appointments scheduled by phone. "More than 200 students and families attended," the superintendent said, thanking community partners and staff.
On district finance, Cotto said the district earned a Municipal Investment Grade short‑term rating, which she described as reflecting strong financial health and helping reduce borrowing costs. "This recognition reflects our district's outstanding financial health and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources," the superintendent said, and she thanked Chief Financial Officer Terry Poulud and the business office for leadership.
Cotto also announced ParentSquare will become the district's official communications platform, and urged families to update contact information in advance of the start of school.
The board received the update and trustees were invited to new‑teacher orientation and other start‑of‑year events.
