One member asked whether that language was inconsistent with having police in schools; colleagues clarified the district's intent is to focus on safety and restorative approaches while addressing systemic disciplinary issues.
After the discussion and an exchange of suggested nonbinding language, the board voted to approve the Code of Character resolution to begin the 30‑day comment period. The motion passed by voice vote; trustees agreed to continue community engagement and further conversation during the comment period.
