Council accepts treasurer resignation and sets 30-day appointment window

Earlier in public comment, resident John Vasari said public payroll records indicate the treasurer received approximately $4,471 in taxpayer funds while largely absent from the office and urged more transparency about the appointment process. “Every taxpayer deserves accountability,” he said.
At the meeting, staff recommended advertising the vacancy, requesting resumes, and setting a timeline for interviews so the council could name a replacement before the 30-day deadline. Solicitor staff confirmed the council will appoint a candidate and advised on timing and process.
Council approved the acceptance of the resignation by voice vote and instructed staff to draft an advertisement and timeline for submissions and interviews to satisfy the statutory appointment window.
