Niskayuna resident urges limits on vehicle idling, wider school composting and commercial recycling

Ted Hauser, a Niskayuna resident and physician, used his public comment slot to press the council on several small, local changes he said would deliver environmental and public-health benefits. "I'm Ted Hauser. I live around the corner at, 2372 Jade Lane," he said when introduced, and later told the council that "one of the ones that frustrates me a little bit is car idling, especially for, town automobiles." He recommended restrictions for nonemergency town vehicles and said such a policy could both reduce exhaust and save municipal fuel costs.
Hauser also praised Craig School's composting program and urged the council to help expand composting in the district and across town. He suggested the CAC coordinate with schools and volunteer groups and encouraged the council to explore mandating recycling for commercial buildings and restaurants, saying the town should aim to lead by example. Council members thanked Hauser and encouraged wider community participation and volunteer service to support those efforts.
