Tarkington ISD board approves SAVVAS ELAR K–5 adoption for 2025–26

Tarkington ISD trustees voted April 14 to approve purchase of the SAVVAS ELAR K–5 curriculum for the 2025–2026 school year for an amount not to exceed $67,000, to be funded with State Board of Education Approved Instructional Materials Entitlement and, if necessary, Instructional Materials and Technology Allotment funds. The motion was made by Jason Ward and seconded by Paige Bostwick and passed unanimously, 7–0.
The curriculum recommendation came from the district's High Quality Instructional Material committee, which presented its selections during the meeting. The board recorded the dollar cap ($67,000) and identified state instructional-material entitlements as the primary funding source. No additional public comment was recorded on the item. The district will finalize purchase agreements and implement the ELAR materials for the K–5 classrooms in the 2025–26 school year.
