Committee presses for six street-name options after Beaufort County GIS hold-up

A staff member told the committee that the May project’s subdivision plat cannot proceed until Beaufort County and its GIS team clear street names, and that the project requires three name options per road — six names total for the two planned roads. "We have come to another standstill with Beaufort County and our GIS system when it comes to the street naming," the staff member said.
The staff member said the committee must finalize three alternatives per road quickly because the planning-commission agenda must be published. "We need to get it in stone by close of business tomorrow because I don't wanna take it into next week," the staff member said. Committee members offered Lowcountry-themed suggestions such as Tidal Marsh, Heron Haven Drive, Hopewell Drive, Foundation Drive and Harmony Lane, and discussed naming one road to acknowledge Fred Hamilton.
Staff noted a coordination issue with a neighboring county's GIS and emergency-routing system and said that 911 call-routing sometimes depends on adjacent jurisdictions, which has complicated the naming review. The staff member asked committee members to submit additional name proposals promptly so planning staff can place the item on the planning commission agenda.
