The motion passed 3–1, with Board Director Marc Staunton dissenting and one member absent.
Superintendent Glen Szymoniak described the make-up plan as the product of discussions with the teachers' union; John Rademacher said the added minutes could be used "creatively to increase student achievement." Staunton objected to a one-size-fits-all approach and said individual school buildings should be allowed to determine whether make-up time is needed. The board record shows the plan focuses on secondary students for the March 20 makeup day and a districtwide daily-minute extension starting March 31.
The vote to readopt the calendar was recorded as Yea 3, Nay 1, Absent 1. The board packet includes the revised calendar and supporting materials; the district indicated the change is a maintenance revision to recapture lost instructional hours rather than a broader calendar redesign.
