Tarkington ISD trustees on Feb. 24 approved personnel recommendations that were discussed in closed session and adopted Option A for the 2025–26 school calendar.
A motion "to approve the new hire recommendations and/or accept staff resignations and terminations as presented in closed session" was made by Paige Bostwick and seconded by Susan Rollins and passed with six trustees voting yea and one absent. Trustees later approved the consent agenda—including minutes from Jan. 27 and Feb. 6, the monthly financial report, disbursement of funds and budget amendments—on a motion by Kevin Johnson, seconded by Jason Ward (Yea: 6, Nay: 0, Absent: 1).
On the action agenda the board approved the recommended 2025–26 calendar (Option A) after the Human Resources director presented the calendar committee's recommendation; that motion was made by Kevin Johnson and seconded by Paige Bostwick and passed unanimously among those present. The minutes record the board reconvening from a public hearing at 7:45 p.m. before taking these votes.
Trustee Kevin Johnson used the board-comment portion of the meeting to underscore staffing concerns, saying, "our staff is underpaid and our campuses were understaffed." The comment was offered as trustees wrapped up routine business and noted ongoing staffing and budgetary pressures.
The approved personnel motions and calendar will be reflected in district personnel records and the posted 2025–26 schedule; the minutes do not list individual hire or resignation names in the open record for this meeting.
