The Taft Independent School District Board of Trustees on June 23 approved an early-release demolition Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) Package #1 with contractor SpawGlass for an amount not to exceed $996,769.00.
Trustee Paul Luis Treviño moved the measure and Trustee Greg Benedict seconded; the motion passed unanimously, 7–0. The approval is contingent on SpawGlass beginning demolition of Building 6 by July 28, 2025 and on Gignac providing 100% construction documents for Package 2 by July 21, 2025 so that no schedule extension or additional general conditions will be added to the GMP.
Board minutes record the condition that no additional time is assumed if Package 2 documents are late. The minutes do not include further contract terms, scope details beyond Building 6, or a breakdown of costs. The Bond Update presentation preceding the vote was given by Kendra Hickman of AGCM.
Next steps indicated in the minutes: execution of the demolition GMP consistent with the stated contingencies and administration to coordinate scheduling and document delivery with project architect and contractor.
