The council approved two agenda items affecting employee benefits: an agreement with Health Equity, Inc. to administer an amended Section 125 premium‑only plan and a renewal packet with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield for fiscal year 2027.
A staff presenter said the Section 125 arrangement “helps save both the city and employees at least 30% in pretaxes for insurance.” Separately, staff reported that an initial 17% renewal had been negotiated down to a 5% annual increase with assistance from IBC. Both measures were approved by roll call, each passing 6–0. The agreements authorize the mayor to execute the necessary documents on behalf of the city.
The council did not attach additional conditions to the approvals at the meeting; staff will finalize contract documents and notify employees of any administrative changes.
