"We needed, like, 50 feet to to finish the sidewalk to make it safe to walk... but you can't because they wouldn't allow us to have, like, a nothing easement," one council member said while describing the location and the easement refusal. Engineer Tom confirmed the DPW maintains a prioritized list for repairs and that larger connection projects would need to be budgeted.
Council members discussed potential next steps: inspecting current work, documenting deficiencies, and asking the DPW to place the connector on the capital list if warranted. Staff noted that some repairs on private roads remain the responsibility of developers or homeowner associations and that certification from an engineer will be required before the borough accepts maintenance responsibility or issues final certificates of occupancy for developments tied to those roads.
