The East Haven Town Council authorized the mayor to execute a multiyear Motorola Solutions agreement to maintain and support the public safety radio system used by police, fire and EMS dispatch. Staff said the previous contract had just expired and the proposed four-year coverage agreement raises the annual cost by only a modest amount compared with the prior contract.
A staff speaker described the agreement as a coverage contract for police, fire and AMS dispatch and said, "If we spread it out over 4 years... the increase for this new contract is, like, 2,600 from the last contract." Council members asked for clarification and then approved authorization for the mayor to sign the agreement under the applicable state contract terms.
