Health administrator reports grant wins and claim recoveries; outreach planned at back-to-school event

Health Administrator Cindy Becker briefed the board on billing improvements, grants and outreach activity. Becker said the Health Department secured the All-Hands-on-Deck grant through 2026 and a Kansas Suicide Prevention grant, has started mailing statements twice a month, updated CPT and diagnosis codes, and that staffer Jenny Scarrow resubmitted 90 claims that had previously been denied and has obtained money for 45 of those claims while continuing work on 23 others.
Becker also noted community outreach: the Health Department donated “a sunscreen station to the Mankato City Pool,” held two Pawnee Mental Health telehealth sessions and will staff a booth at the July 29 back-to-school event. Commissioners received the update; no board action was taken.
