Board of Health: Food Bank reports $166,132.75 and surplus donations

The South River Board of Health on Feb. 17 heard an update on the borough food bank’s supplies and finances. "With all the food donations received it was enough for families to be able to have two monthly visits for January through June," Beth Lukacs said, reporting a balance of $166,132.75 and noting the Primary School’s Souper Bowl fundraiser contributed to collections.
Lukacs said there is a surplus of toy donations from Christmas and extra school supplies available for families in need, and the Board discussed holding a possible "Christmas in July" event to distribute remaining toys. No vote was needed; the update was entered into the minutes.
