The Borough of South River Planning Board on Feb. 10 approved application PB-2025-26, allowing a driveway widening at 185 Whitehead Ave. The motion to approve was made by John Frost and seconded by Christian Eleto; roll-call votes in favor were Eleto, Frost, Councilman Nick Giannakopoulos, Mayor Peter Guindi, Brian Almeida and Chairman Robert Bodak. Jesse Hare recorded an abstention.
Planner Todd Bletcher told the board the application required two variances: “the two variances the applicant needs: a 5‑foot side-yard setback is required but the property has a 1‑foot setback, and there is no turnaround on the county road,” he said. The board record shows the homeowner had sold the house without securing the variance, the current owner holds an expired certificate of occupancy and the property received citations from Code Enforcement; a court subsequently ordered the applicant to apply for the variance. No further conditions or continuances were recorded and the motion carried.
