County staff advised the board their 10‑year lease with the Workshop of Davidson will expire Nov. 30, 2026, and asked commissioners to authorize beginning the process to negotiate a new 10‑year lease and to schedule a public hearing at the end of September. A workshop representative told the board the organization has been on the property since 1966 and has made substantial improvements to the site.
Staff explained state statute limits government leases to 10‑year periods (the previous long lease had expired in 2016) and that the board would see a public‑hearing agenda item on Monday to start the renewal process. Commissioners signaled broad support for beginning the process.
