Jackie Copeland of Partners Health Management briefed the board on a planned merger between Partners and VIA Health that would create a larger regional behavioral‑health managed‑care entity. "Our boards have agreed to, merge," Copeland said, and she asked the county to consider nominees for the governing board and for the county commissioner advisory slot.
Copeland said the two organizations are coordinating governance, that the merger would take effect Oct. 1, and that the partners’ boards hoped to finalize nominees on Aug. 20. Commissioners discussed whether the county’s nominee should be a sitting commissioner or a county staff member and agreed to consider options and report back.
