Spearman ISD authorizes superintendent hires and approves multiple educator contracts

After returning from closed session, the Spearman ISD Board reconvened and granted Superintendent James Layman authority to hire certified professional employees during May, June, and July; the motion passed 7-0. The authority allows the superintendent to complete necessary hires before the next regular board meeting to ensure staffing for the 2025–26 school year.
The board also approved a non-Chapter 21, 10-month contract for Macy Beedy, speech-language pathologist, and approved probationary educator contracts (with certification addenda where applicable) for Jordan Whitfield, Nathaniel Morel, Kelsey Laster, Macie Bhakta, Sunny Bhakta and Trenton Finley. Each approval was moved and seconded as recorded in the minutes and recorded as carried 7-0. The minutes identify specific contract addenda such as CDL and certification addenda for positions requiring those qualifications.
