Valley View ISD board certifies Nov. 5 school board election results

The Valley View ISD Board of Trustees certified the results of the Nov. 5, 2024 school board election for Places 4, 5, 6 and 7 during a special meeting Nov. 19 at the district central office. Sandra Riojas, the district's Data Management & Assessment/Elections Director, presented the canvass and reported vote totals for each seat.
Riojas reported the certified counts as follows: Place 4 — Mario Degollado with 2,530 votes; Place 5 — Jaime Gaona with 3,638 votes; Place 6 — Juan Viveros with 2,158 votes; and Place 7 — Marisol Peña with 2,837 votes. The board recorded those results for certification. No members of the public signed up to speak on the agenda items.
The minutes note that oaths of office were administered subsequently for the newly elected trustees for Places 5, 6 and 7. The board's certified results will be used to issue certificates of election and seat the winners in accordance with district procedures.
