Board approves multiple student trips, including UIL State Congress and regional tournaments
Summary
Valley View ISD approved five student trips: two soccer tournaments (Jan. 2–4), UIL State Congress (Jan. 6–9), a softball tournament (Feb. 20–21), and the TAFE Teach Tomorrow Summit (Feb. 16–19). The trips were approved retroactively where noted.
The Valley View ISD Board of Trustees on Jan. 13 approved five student trips recommended by administration. Genaro Cantu and Manuel Rodriguez presented the items: Girls Soccer — Battle of the Backbone, Canyon Lake, Jan. 2–4, 2025; Varsity Boys Soccer — CY-Fair Invitational, Cypress, Jan. 2–4, 2025; UIL State Congress, Austin, Jan. 6–9, 2025; Varsity Softball tournament, San Antonio, Feb. 20–21, 2025; and Valley View TAFE chapter to the 41st Annual Teach Tomorrow Summit, Galveston, Feb. 16–19, 2025.
Jaime Gaona moved to approve the trips and Omar Garcia seconded; the motion carried unanimously. Where noted in the minutes, some trips were approved retroactively to early January event dates; administration will manage trip logistics and required chaperone and safety procedures.
