The Village of Green Island board adopted Local Law No. 2 of 2025 to add a stop sign at the intersection of Hudson Avenue and Clinton Street. A village staff member told the board the change is intended to slow drivers who have begun diverting from George Street and using Hudson Avenue at higher speeds.
"So, basically, the purpose of this local law is to add a stop sign at, Clinton Street and Hudson Avenue," the village staff member said, saying the stop would act as a midway point to reduce speeds before the next stop at Arch Street. The board opened a public hearing on the proposal and received no public comments before closing the hearing and moving to adopt the law.
The adoption was moved, seconded and carried; the transcript does not record a roll-call tally. The action amends Chapter 157 (stop intersections) of the village code to add the specified intersection. The board noted it will continue to monitor and mitigate roadway issues as they arise.
