Borough Attorney Baxter reported at the March 4 caucus that a summer recreation fee ordinance was on for introduction that evening and that an ordinance to renew the franchise with New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) also was scheduled for introduction. Members discussed terms of the franchise renewal, including a preference among some councilmembers for a 15‑year renewal rather than the 50‑year term requested by NJNG.
No final vote on the franchise or the fee ordinance was recorded in the public portion of the caucus; both matters were listed for formal introduction. If formally introduced, each ordinance will be placed on a future agenda for further public notice, hearing and possible vote as required by municipal ordinance procedure.
