District reports 22 new classroom hires and new-teacher academy this year

Cindy (staff) updated the board on hiring and the new-teacher academy: "This year, we have 22 new teachers that we've hired that are going to this academy," she said. Cindy also provided hiring counts for recent years (30 in 2023–24, 31 in 2022–23, 15 in 2021–22, 14 in 2020–21 and eight in 2019–20) and said the district has more than 120 teachers with zero to five years of experience.
When asked by a board member whether the district is fully staffed for the start of the year, Cindy answered, "We are fully staffed as of, I believe, today," while noting a couple of resignations that may affect fine arts and one social worker role. Board members asked staff to continue monitoring vacancies and onboarding.
