Residents ask about bonding for fire engine and permit classifications; council thanks departments for storm response

Resident Doreen Custode asked whether the full cost of the Pierce fire engine would be bonded, when the next capital budget discussion would be scheduled, and requested an update on planned improvements to the Walker Park house. Borough Administrator Glenn Domenick replied that only the portion of the payment needed at this time would be authorized and the balance would be paid later; he said an RFP for Walker Park house improvements was being drafted and that the capital budget meeting had not yet been scheduled.
Resident Jeff Ivler raised concerns that certain construction projects are being permitted as remodels when they should be classified as demolition-and-rebuilds, producing a shortfall in permit revenue. Ivler asked the governing body to direct the Borough Administrator, Building Official and Borough Attorney to review permits to ensure proper classification and fee designation. Councilman Arthur Rees and Councilman Matthew Atlas also reported on recent community events and thanked Public Works and other departments for storm response; the council adjourned at 6:59 p.m.
