Staff explains new Education Code stipend and how it affects trustee pay

He explained that if Marin County moves from class 5 to class 4 (about 800 more average daily attendees), the monthly stipend could increase to $1,000.
Wentz emphasized the bylaw does not require a board member to accept compensation; members can opt out. Trustees asked procedural questions about how acceptance would be tracked (onboarding and voluntary opt-in were discussed). No formal action was taken; staff said they would notify trustees if classification or compensation changes occur.
