Pitman council tables PHS centennial lamppost banners amid overlapping requests

Administrator McCafferty asked the council to table a lamppost banner application for the Pitman High School 100th graduating class, saying she had received questions and wanted to gather additional information before presenting the item at the Jan. 27 council meeting. She also said, going forward, she would prefer banner applications be submitted only in the year the banners will be hung.
Mayor Razze noted that large banners across Broadway had previously been determined to hang from private property and therefore fell outside council purview. Several residents spoke during the public portion: Courtney Milward asked about the timing of the vote and the bike path grant name, Mike Grillo raised that a separate Pride banner application overlapped with the PHS request and urged a compromise, and applicant Lauren Eisenhart said she would update the application to include student photos and that all 36 poles (front and back) would be needed to accommodate seniors. Councilman Mazzola asked about legal consent for including students under age 18 in banner photos. The council decided to table the PHS lamppost application to allow staff to gather additional information and return the item to the Jan. 27 meeting agenda.
