At the Dec. 3 called meeting, the Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees voted to name Dr. David Averett as Acting Superintendent.
"Trustee Ryan Pitts made a motion to approve the action of naming Dr. David Averett as the Acting Superintendent," the minutes state. Trustee Judd McCutchen seconded the motion, and the board recorded a 7-0 vote in favor. The minutes do not specify when the acting appointment begins, how long it will last, or whether any contract changes accompany the appointment.
The action follows the board's acceptance of the superintendent's resignation earlier in the meeting and was recorded in the same set of minutes signed Dec. 9, 2024.
