Waco ISD recognizes student qualifiers for national Educators Rising events and honors McLennan County Health Department

Board President Stephanie Korteweg opened the meeting and the board recognized students and staff. Lian Sanchez-Leo, a G.W. Carver Middle School student, led the Pledge. The board recognized 40 Waco ISD high school students who qualified for the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) conference; 21 of those students advanced to the National Educators Rising Conference in Washington, D.C. Crestview Elementary Librarian Amy Taylor was honored for being selected as a coordinator for the National Children's Book Council Favorites Program.
The board presented the August Community Partner Award to the McLennan County Health Department for its role in maintaining student immunizations. Superintendent Dr. Kincannon also reported early enrollment growth from 12,369 to 13,398 students since the first day of school.
